Part 1 - Writing For most of human history, the story of Egypt's past was locked. Historians did not know how to translate Egyptian writing. The notes and video to the right provide a basic introduction to hieroglyphics and how they were eventually translated. It was with the translation of heiroglyphics that we know the story of ancient Egypt. So how does that story start? Read page 147 in the textbook. Complete Kingdoms of Egypt handout.
