Formative Assessment #3 - Anthropology
Part 1: LETS - Posters Class Activity LETS (Language, Economy, Technology, Social Systems) of the Material Worlds posters. Assignment: If you were not in class to do the assignment, please use the picture of the family in Bhutan (look right). Identify and categorize the cultural characteristics into a LETS chart. If you can't figure out a characteristic (like language) explain why.This assignment is to 'warm you up' to the idea of analyzing culture. The next assignment (LETS Movies) will be more detailed. LETS Movies: Assignment: For this assignment you are doing the same thing as in the Material World's assignment, but doing it with movie clips. Use the video links to the right to practice observing and documenting other cultures. Create detailed LETS charts about both the oompa loomas and hobbits. These need to be much more complete in comparison to the posters activity. Part 2: Anthropology Project Assignment: Click on the link below to access the Anthropology Project. The field notes and 1/2-1 page narrative is due on Friday, September 30. Anthropology Project This video clip was shown in class as a type of "hook" into Anthropology.
